a song i did around Dec. 17. the piano is a piece by Spenser Coke.

From Our Faces

while you were gone
I wrote this song
with the best intentions
hoping it would be perfect

no one will bring us down
no one will figure out
how to wipe the smile from our faces

and I’ll write you a thousand words
just to calm your hurt
if ever … you need it

and the puzzle piece in your eye
fits directly into mine… in my eye

we’ll give this hell
we’ll give this hell

my best
is all I can give
until exhausted
but even then there’s still more to be said

I wrote this song
while you were gone
with all my might
hoping it’s just right

no one will bring us down
no one will figure out
how to wipe the smile from our faces

and I’ll write you a thousand lines
just to ease your mind
if ever… you need it

and the puzzle piece in your eye
fits directly into mine…in my eye

this is a song i did the vocals for. See Shane Ay did the beat.

Digging.

at the edge of the earth I’ll fly
this precipice and the end combine.

oh no she won’t know it’s over
and she won’t see what hit her
so give up tonight give up tonight (this ghost finds the sky)
give up tonight give up tonight (this ghost finds the sky)

at the edge of the earth I’ll fly
this precipice and the end combine.
dig that grave, make sure it’s just right
I should have told you this was my last flight

so who said it’s going to be easy for her.
just cut out your heart make it easier.

at the edge of the earth I’ll fly
this precipice and the end combine
no one said my life would be fine
I should’ve warned you this would be my last night.

ghosts taking last flight I’ll spread my wings but never fly

Drunkard’s Soliloquy.

i wrote this…a friend wrote one line of it. i was bored. i call it …
Drunkard’s Soliloquy. it’s a pardoy of Hamlet’s Soliloquy.

To drink, or not to drink—that is the question:
Whether ‘tis nobler in the morning to suffer
The pain and hangover of outrageous drunkenness
or to take sobriety against a sea of alcohol
and by opposing miss out. To drink, to chug—
Much more—and by a chug to say we end
The heartache, and the thousand natural shocks
That  flesh is heir to. ‘Tis a consumption
Drunkenly to be wished. To drink, to chug—
To chug—perchance to bone: ay, there’s the rub,
For in that chug of bier what bones may come
When he have shaken off this moral code,
Must give us pause. There’s the degradation
that makes diseased of so long life.
For who would bear the drips and warts of genitalia,
Th’ oppressor’s dong, the proud whore’s arrogance,
The pang of dirty love, the medicine’s delay,
The insolence of friends, and the insults
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his drunken make
With a bare bottle? Who would intoxication bear
To gulp and swallow under a weary night
But that the dread of something after bone-age
The undiscovered virus from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the pill,
And makes us rather bear those ills we caught
Than to fly to others we know not of?
Thus conscience makes drunkards of us all,
And thus the native hue of blackout
Is sicklied o’er with the pale cast of inebriation,
And evenings of great wine and bourbon
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of harlots. Soft you now!
The nasty Ohfillmia! Nymphomaniac, in thy afflictions
Be all my nights remember’d.

another song i wrote and recorded today…it’s pretty rough.

Winter, Wine and Wasted Nights

if you come halfway
I’ll come the rest
maybe it’ll be the day
you get over your nervousness

so calm down tonight and we’ll open a box of wine
so come down here and we’ll get by on wasted nights and holiday cheer.

in vino veritas
and the truth is I’m lost
maybe if someone would take my hand
I could get to the other side of this distant land.

I’ve always said the night is young and I’ve never given up.

A song i wrote and recorded tonight.

‘it just got worse’

I’ve come and you’ve gone nowhere
and it’s all it’s all you have.
I’ve come and you’ve gone nowhere
and it’s a shame it’s like that

settle down on the east coast and it will come for you
this storm will come for you.

and I’ve come and you’ve gone nowhere
and it’s all it’s all you have.
I’ve come and you’ve gone nowhere
and it’s a shame because you have tried

so if you have a bucket and you put it in your pocket then nothing else could fit.
if you took your dreams and sewed them into your jeans they’d no longer be fashion.

i’ve been trying to reach you. but my extension cord wouldn’t reach that far.

i’ve been trying to reach you. but my extension cord wouldn’t reach that far.

haha. it was only kittens in the box. haha.

haha. it was only kittens in the box. haha.

A song i wrote and recorded today.

‘the waves upon which our hearts float’

I can’t wait for
beaches and sea shores
like a trip on that summer night
in winter maybe we’ll sit next to the firelight
and question whether we’re still alive.
and question whether we’re still alive.

well can’t you see it’s hard to speak with your back facing me.
and I think you underestimate the power of a heart not ready to break.
a heart like mine.

and if we’re compelled.
to ride the waves and swells.
then we’ll wait for a warmer night
because in winter we’ll be next to the firelight
questioning whether we’re still alive
questioning whether we’re still alive

if the moon pulls the water to our throats.
we won’t panic we’ll both just float.
away ….
on the waves.
